MHS Double Decade Drive
Millennium High School was founded in 2002 with a $500,000 grant from New Visions for Public Schools and $14 million in fundraising from Lower Manhattan Community Board 1.
This year marks the school’s 20th anniversary, and the MHS Parents’ Association wants to honor this landmark by raising $20,000 through a dedicated Double Decade Drive (D3) that complements our main annual Direct Drive.
The D3 goal is to invest in initiatives that improve students’ daily experience at school. High school is an opportunity for growth in many areas, including skill development, socialization, greater independence and responsibility. Our hope is to fund “little” things that have a large impact on student life.
In coordination with administrators, and based on students’ reported needs, the PA has identified several site-specific priorities, including:
+ New common area furniture – to expand and create space for collaboration and socializing;
+ Additional print stations – to ensure students have reliable options for paper-based work;
+ New filtered bottle-filling stations – to support sustainable and healthy choices;
+ New charging stations – to allow students to quickly power up devices;
+ Additional displays – to share and celebrate student work; and
+ Additional art supplies – to promote continued creativity in and beyond visual arts classes.
Please consider donating $20, $200, $2000 as your circumstances allow to help improve students’ daily experience at school.
And help us spread the word, by asking friends and family to support MHS, and by sharing this link through social media. If your employer has a match program, please ask about a matching donation. All contributors will receive a donation receipt for a tax deduction.
We are also launching a limited-edition 20th Anniversary merchandise sale to complement the D3 fundraiser. Check out our special designs, and support Millennium High School!
Happy 20th Anniversary Millennium!
